1 / College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)

In Ontario, all Registered Nurses must maintain a membership registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. The CNO is a regulatory body that sets practice standards for nurses in order to regulate the profession, and in turn ensure protection of the public (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2020). This ensures that all nurses have the appropriate knowledge and competencies to practice safely (CNO, 2020). This membership is renewed yearly at a cost, and we must provide information on our workplace and other details for data collection (hours worked, area of employment, etc).

Take a moment to visit CNO's website and social media accounts by clicking the photo and/or social bar on the left.

2 / Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario  (RNAO)

The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario represents and advocates for our profession. Through their membership (which is also renewed yearly, at a cost), I have access to professional liability protection and legal assistance if required. Otherwise, I primarily utilize RNAO for education purposes and best practice guidelines.
